StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm starts beta testing

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is getting ever-closer, with Blizzard officially kicking off the first stages of the game’s beta testing. The news follows on from last week’s update, when the game was rated for release in Australia, hinting that the game could be on shelves by Christmas.

The current beta test for Heart of the Swarm is multiplayer-only, and is limited to just a handful of lucky folk: Pro-gamers, Arcade contest winners, shoutcasters and select members of the media. But while you might not be able to play just yet, you’ll certainly be able to check it all out: There’s no NDA on the beta, so participants can talk about evreything!

Keep your eyes peeled, we’re expecting live streams, screenshots, shoutcasts and the occasional Heart of the Swarm throwdown – and they’re only going to get bigger and better.

…but if you really, really want to get your hands on the game, make sure you’ve opted in for it! Head to the Account Management section of your account, and set up your Beta Profile Settings. Opting in does not guarantee beta access (sorry), but if you log in from an account that is currently playing a fair bit of StarCraft II, we hear you’ll have a better chance of success.
