There’s a brand new Angry Bird in town: Freddie Mercury. The iconic Queen frontman is now an honorary member of the Rovio family, joining up with the award-winning casual game as part of Freddie for a Day.

Freddie for a Day takes place on September 5th – the late singer’s birthday – and is now in its third year. Musicians, celebrities, gamers, and friends will raise money for the Mercury Phoenix Trust – Fighting AIDS Worldwide.
While many people will be attending the special gala benefit hosted by Brian May and Roger Taylor, Rovio are helping other people get in on the fun, by launching a special, limited-edition Freddie Mercury Angry Bird t-shirt, available shortly online via the Angry Birds webstore (and with a portion of proceeds dedicated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.
The plan in 2012, as in previous years, is to turn us all into a Globe of Moustaches for a day. Dress up (full sparkly leotard? head-to-toe PVC biker gear? aviator sunglasses?), or just don the famous ‘tache, and donate to help combat AIDS around the world. And maybe play a game or two, while you’re at it.
