David Bateson returns to voice Hitman: Absolution

Just when you thought Hitman: Absolution couldn’t get any better, IO Interactive have dropped a bombshell: David Bateson will be returning to the role of Agent 47, the role he’s played since 2000’s Codename 47.

In an interesting twist, while it’s Bateson you’ll be hearing, it’s not Bateson you’ll be watching. William Mapother (from Lost) has taken on the motion-capture acting work for Agent 47, which has all been recorded at Giant Studios.

David Bateson: He even looks the part!

This is music to the ears of Hitman fans, particularly as IO previously swore up and down that Bateson would not be returning to the role.

Absolution Brand Director Jon Brooke explains the switcheroo:

IO and Bateson have been bed fellows for over a decade and like all long running relationships sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder. Looking back I think we were just playing hard to get.

“The most ambitious” Hitman game undertaken by IO, Hitman: Absolution is hitting shelves November 20th, for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
