In news which has somewhat surprised gamers around the world, Grasshopper Manufacture and co-conspirator Kadokawa Games have confirmed that Lollipop Chainsaw has shipped more than 700,000 copies, the highest shipment figure for any Grasshopper title.
…the event also featured an as-yet-unreleased trailer for upcoming Grasshopper release, Killer is Dead, which featured a man with a cyborg arm and a katana. Early reports suggest the game uses the cel-shading technique we saw in earlier game No More Heroes, tied in with some colourful, stylised combat effects showing influence from both Shadows of the Damned and Lollipop Chainsaw.
Grasshopper head honcho Suda 51 explained to the crowd that he couldn’t say too much about Killer is Dead just yet, but the storyline will carry over traditions started in games like Killer7 and No More Heroes Suda also explained the new game would feature a male protagonist, to balance things out after the success of zombie-killing cheerleader Juliet Starling in Lollipop.
However, Suda laughs, rest assured that plenty of pretty ladies are in store when Killer is Dead launches for PS3 and Xbox 360 some time in 2013.
