EA merges Aus mobile devs, forms Firemonkeys

There’s a new player in the mobile development scene, and it’s quite the force to be reckoned with. EA has combined two of its world-leading mobile studios, and simple math dictates that IronMonkey plus Firemint equals Firemonkeys!

Firemonkeys is officially Australia’s largest game development studio, based in Melbourne – home to both IronMonkey and Firemint. In 2012 alone, more than 50 million people across the world have been entertained by games like Flight Control, Mass Effect Infiltrator, Real Racing, Dead Space, SPY Mouse and The Sims FreePlay – and now they’re all being developed under the same roof.

With such strong back catalogues from both sides, it’s good to know that Firemonkeys will continue to work on their own individual projects. They will also come together and collaborate on new creations, as well as promising unique features and new experiences for their well-established brands.

The individual parts of Firemonkeys are still working on their own titles (we know that Need for Speed Most Wanted for iOS was in development at IronMonkey), but we’re promised some big announcements are headed our way in the not-so-distant future.
