Sleeping Dogs is a blend of Asian cinema and Hollywood glamour – so it’s only fitting that the voice-acting cast list is similarly spectacular. Square Enix has officially announced just who will be behind the characters when the game launches next month.
Stephen van der Mescht, Executive Producer at developer United Front Games explains:
Sleeping Dogs features over two hours of rich dialogue in a story inspired by some of Hong Kong’s finest films. As huge fans of the genre we knew exactly who we wanted; we knew who could bring the script to life. The end result is fantastic.
From the top, we have:
Wei Shen played by Will Yun Lee (Die Another Day, Total Recall). Wei is an undercover detective working from within one of Hong Kong’s most feared Triads, the Sun On Yee, where he is a lieutenant beneath Winston Chu (Parry Shen – Better Luck Tomorrow, The New Guy).
Wei’s childhood friend Jackie Mah (Edison Chen – Internal Affairs, The Dark Knight) is also a low-level thug working in the same Triad – and Police Inspector Pendrew (Tom Wilkinson – Batman Begins, The Full Monty) is on-hand to help Wei to earn his trust.
Still with us? There’s also key roles for Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man, Easy A), Robin Shou (Hard to Kill, Mortal Kombat), Lucy Liu (Kill Bill, Charlie’s Angels), Kelly Hu (Martial Law, X2), Terence Yin (New Police Story, Colour of the Truth), James Hong (Blade Runner, The Day the Earth Stood Still), Tzi-Ma (Rush Hour, The Quiet American) and Yunjin Kim (Lost, Diary of June) – and that’s just for starters.
Sleeping Dogs is set for release on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in North America on August 14th, Australia/New Zealand on August 16th, and Europe on August 17th.
