Don’t expect a sequel to Kid Icarus Uprising to be released any time soon – not by the same developer, at least. Japanese studio Project Sora has officially dissolved, as of June 30th. The company was only three years old, and had successfully shipped just one game.

Project Sora was created by Masahiro Sakurai, the creative force behind both Kirby and the Super Smash Bros. series. Following the release of Kid Icarus: Uprising in January of this year, Sakurai – and Project Sora was reportedly working on two new games for Nintendo, a 3DS and Wii U version of Super Smash Bros..
The new games were co-developed projects alongside Namco Bandai – it is unknown how the studio closure will impact on the new titles.
