We’re still waiting for a “proper” Hatsune Miku game to be released outside of Japan, but Sega did bring a mobile version of the vocaloid idol to iOS earlier this year. Following the success of Miku Flick, the publisher has confirmed that a second game in the series is now headed to iPhone, iPad and iPod touch – “soon“.
Miku’s console outings are simple rhythm-based affairs, where gamers have to hit the right buttons in time with the music (think Elite Beat Agents or Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan). Miku Flick, on the other hand, incorporates a new mechanic which sees gamers “flick” Japanese characters to spell out the lyrics.
The game is quite a hefty investment on a platform dominated by casual 99cent offerings: Sega charged 1,200 yen (about US$15) for the original game in Japan, and the western version – released in April – sells for US$13.99.
At this stage, no release date or price has been mentioned for Miku Flick 02, but we (and the Anime News Network) will be keeping an eye on things for you.
