Apparently, in Japan, if you want a giant robot animated for your video game, there is a specific company to call, and they’ll do it for you. This is the sort of thing that you learn when you hang out with people from Konami and ask them questions about Zone of the Enders: HD Collection. You also find out things about why the now 10 year-old game is getting a super-shiny remaster, what sort of things are considered when revisiting a classic, and just which demo will be included in the re-release.
At least, that’s what happened when we caught up with Pearl Lu at E3 earlier this month, when we bailed her up and asked specifically about the upcoming HD collection, which includes both Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner.
…we also discovered it is entirely possible to hold an informative interview by asking just two questions. Thank you, Pearl!
If you were thinking that, perhaps, the timing of this re-release is a little interesting, you’d be right. On one hand, it is a convenient decade since the release of the original game, and that sort of thing is always nice to celebrate.
On the other, however… opening the series up to a whole new generation of fans is a great way of getting everybody good and worked up for the next instalment of the Zone of the Enders series, which series creator Hideo Kojima has announced is currently in the early prototyping stage at his studio in Japan.
