Need For Speed Most Wanted only has one rule

Now that the dust is settling a little after E3, we’re finally getting a chance to look back at some of the Big Names that were announced at this year’s expo – like Need for Speed Most Wanted, which was a surprise highlight from EA for me.

The only rule in Need for Speed Most Wanted is to race without rules.

Matt Webster, Executive Producer at Criterion Games elaborates:

Criterion is shaking up the franchise with Need for Speed Most Wanted. This is Most Wanted for a new generation of players. We’ve brought everything we know about racing, chasing and exploration and smashed them together in a highly connected open world automotive experience. Whether driving solo or racing with friends in our amazing new multiplayer experience, Autolog fires up competition out of everything as players compete to be most wanted amongst their friends.

We managed to catch up with Hamish Young from Criterion while hanging around the EA booth – an in a quick video interview, he explained that this is part reboot, part re-invention, with the Burnout developer aiming to put its own spin on the already beloved racer.

Unlike many first-look games that are announced at expos, Need for Speed Most Wanted already has a release date – keep your eyes peeled, this one’s set to roar onto shelves on October 30th in North America, while it’ll arrive in Europe on November 1st.

You’ll want to get in quick if you know what’s good for you, too: A special limited edition Need for Speed Most Wanted pack, which brings with it custom liveries, pre-customised rollouts, double speed points and two very shiny vehicles – the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale as well as the very lovely Porsche 911 Carrera S – will also ship on the same date. Don’t expect these to hang around, however – our advice is to pre-order early to avoid disappointment.
