11 Assassin's Creed III liberated on Vita

Sony will release the Crystal White PlayStation Vita in North America, Europe and other Western territories as a bundle alongside the freshly-announced Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation. The game – to be released day and date with the console version of Assassin’s Creed III on October 30th – stars Aveline, the first female assassin in the series’ history.

Liberation is a complete, standalone game that has been developed exclusively for the PlayStation Vita – the first of its kind – and Sony Computer Entertainment America CEO Jack Tretton explains that it is “the complete Assassin’s Creed open-world experience”, just squished into a teeny tiny package.

At the same time, Ubisoft has been throwing plenty of time and attention to the console version of Assassin’s Creed III, which was also shown off. “Any history buff will tell you,” says Sony, “that the revolution was not just fought on land. It was also fought on… boats.”

Complete with a little seasickness, we were shown Connor at the helm of a pirate ship (what else?), providing us with yet another glimpse of what’s in store when the game launches.

But wait, there’s more! A new Assassin’s Creed III PS3 bundle, with a console, copy of the game, and bucketload of free DLC.

…and if you can’t choose which new Assassin you should spend time with, Sony’s set its sights on convincing you to go with both games: Synching your PlayStation Vita game with the PlayStation 3 version will net you extra weaponry, character skins and equipment upgrades, as well as being a little bit nifty.
