inSane is "not cancelled" – not detailed, either

Fantasy fans take note: Guillermo Del Toro’s inSane is still in production, even though it’s not clear whether THQ is onboard as publisher.

The news comes courtesy of THQ executive VP of Core Games, Danny Bilson, who took to Twitter in the wake of recent company news.

This week alone, the South Park RPG has been delayed into 2012, while Tomonobu Itagaki’s game in development Devil’s Third has been unceremoniously dropped.

While fans are universally pleased by the news, we still haven’t really heard much about the game. It was first announced back in 2010, described as a “sick, shocking, sandbox-style” game, in the works at Volition.

At the time, Bilson announced the game would take “8-10 years to build”, promising “an unprecedented cinematic experience” which would redefine storytelling in gaming, with Del Toro later adding that players would be forced to question “their own senses of morality and reality”.

Originally planned for release in 2013, if we don’t start hearing something soon about inSane, people are going to get worried – if they’re not already.
