Disney is preparing to show off Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two at next month’s E3 – but the developers have sent across a tidy little behind-the-scenes video to bring everybody up to speed with what will be on show.
This sequel to Epic Mickey makes the jump to HD consoles, due to arrive on PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 within the next year or so. While the title mouse makes a joyous return, he’s joined this time around by Disney‘s first cartoon star: Oswald the Lucky Rabbit.
It’s also worth noting that Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is what could be called a video game musical, with the characters taking the time to “express themselves in song”, complete with all-original music and lyrics. And – in the interests of interactivity – each player can “conduct” their own unique soundtrack as they make choices throughout the game.
The video is pretty shiny, making the game seem like it’ll be something special indeed – but gamers are already cautious. The pre-release artwork for Epic Mickey was glorious, but the game itself trod a more traditional path. Here’s hoping the developers at Junction Point carry their creativity into the finished product, this time.
