Gamers who were thrilled to learn that South Park: The Stick of Truth had a name will be crushed to discover that the stick is just out of reach. Following less-than-positive financial news, publisher THQ has delayed the cartoon tie-in until 2013.

Unlike earlier South Park gaming projects, The Stick of Truth is an ambitious, full-scale RPG for PC and modern consoles. The story sees you playing as a new kid in the white-bread mountain town, and it’s up to you to defend your home from various attacks, all while making friends with the locals.
The name was reportedly outed by an Xbox website update last week, the first we’d heard from the Obsidian-developed title for a while. Might be the last we hear for a while too though, as THQ adjusts the calendar.
Stick of Truth is now due for release in the publisher’s fiscal fourth quarter, meaning that January 2013 is the earliest we may be able to get our collective mitts on the game.
