Do you want to create your own robots? While you might not have the gear to get out in the garage and build a life-size mechanical monster, upcoming MMO Panzer Pets gives you the opportunity to do that all in the virtual space.
Like many games these days, Panzer Pets has set up a Kickstarter account. Also like many games these days, it’s set in a post-apocalyptic world. Despite those two elements, this one is a little different to the other stuff we’ve seen – but it’s something what many people have been hoping for: Something awfully close to a Pokémon MMO.
Robots have taken over – but people are fighting back, learning how to build their own pets to duke it out for them. While Pokémon prompts you to run around capturing creatures, Panzer Pets sees you hunting for parts, which you can then assemble to create your own, fully customisable 3D robot.
The world is full of randomly-generated zones, plus towns and dungeons, each city dotted with robot parts to collect. The MMO element sees the ability to trade parts with friendly gamers, or challenge the less-friendly ones. You can create guilds, team up, and take on quests together, if you don’t want to go it alone.
The game’s in development for Mac and PC web browsers, but as it’s being built on the Unity 3D engine, the whole thing will be released on iOS and Android as well.
Want in? Head to Kickstarter and pledge your cash – a minimum of US$10 will get you an exclusive starter robot and VIP status in-game.
