Crysis 3: Return to New York with Prophet

EA has confirmed that Crysis 3 is on its way, and the game returns to an unfamiliar New York City. (Quick, everybody: Act surprised!)

Described as the hunted becoming the hunter, Crysis 3 puts gamers into the role of “Prophet”, who has returned to NYC. However – the city has been encased in a Nanodome – the New York City Liberty Dome – created by the Cell Corporation (corrupt, of course!). The Dome has created a new, unique urban forest, complete with dense swamplands and raging rivers, as well as the looming, overgrown trees.

There are seven distinct environments inside the Liberty Dome – known as the Seven Wonders – and it’s your task, as Prophet, to explore what else is out there, keeping in mind that to many denizens of the Dome, you’re the enemy.

Cevat Yerli, Chief Executive Officer of developer Crytek explains:

Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love. Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.

The game itself is set in 2047, and Prophet is on a revenge mission, after figuring out just why Cell Corporation was building the giant, quarantined Nanodomes. Hint: What the citizens were told was a lie. The domes were not constructed to protect the population, or to cleanse the cities of Ceph forces.

Instead, the Domes are a covert attempt at a land and technology grab from Cell, and the Ceph are still lurking just around every corner.
