Lollipop Chainsaw soundtrack brings the noise

Grasshopper Manufacture has managed to outdo itself when it comes to rockin’ out: While the soundtrack to Shadows of the Damned was pretty impressive, with the inclusion of The Damned alongside fabled Japanese sound director Akira Yamaoka, the musical accompaniment for Lollipop Chainsaw is – perhaps – even more impressive.

We expected nothing less, of course, with Yamaoka returning to the (sound) director’s chair – this time around, joined by artist Jimmy Urine, from Mindless Self Indulgence.

When Juliet rips through a decaying zombie torso with her trusty chainsaw, would Sleigh Bells fit better than Sinatra? Or should it be an original composition?

While the original musical soundtrack is pretty hefty, the daring duo had a little help from some licensed tracks as well. There’s a tasty blend of cheerleader tunes, cranky punk and metal and – of course – a little dubstep, because it is 2012 after all.

Here’s the full tracklist to get you going:

  • Lollipop – The Chordettes
  • Pac Man Fever – Buckner & Garcia
  • Rock ‘N’ Roll (Will Take You To The Mountain) – Skrillex
  • The Way of the Fist – Five Finger Death Punch
  • Stop Reading, Start Doing Pushups – Destroy Rebuild Until God Comes
  • Riot Rhythm – Sleigh Bells
  • Turtle Crazy – Toy Dolls
  • 1,000 Cigarettes – MSTRKRFT
  • Heroes Of Our Time – Dragonforce
  • Nemesis – Arch Enemy
  • Needled 24/7 – Children of Bodom
  • Mickey – Toni Basil
  • You Spin Me Round (Like A Record) – Dead or Alive
  • Empire State Human – The Human League
  • Cherry Bomb – Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
  • Speed – Atari Teenage Riot

The “un-deadly” story of sweet Juliet Starling, Lollipop Chainsaw is a quest to discover the source of a massive zombie outbreak. Due out in June for Xbox 360 and PS3, you’ll soon be able to see just what this chainsaw-wielding cheerleader can do, as she slices, dices and high-kicks her way through a festival of zombie rock lords.
