Mass Effect 3 Datapad has arrived

If you’re still seeking that little bit more from Mass Effect 3, EA has something for you. Fresh from the App Store, the Mass Effect 3 Datapad is a pretty impressive bit of kit, and something that promises to improve your gaming experience. All you have to do is download the App (it’s free!), and you’ve got the entire Mass Effect Codex at your fingertips.

There are a number of features incorporated into the App, but the Codex is probably the most impressive. Entries from all three games have been packed into one handy device, meaning you now have easy access to the game’s detailed lore archives.

…you don’t even have to read them all yourself: Many entries also feature voiceovers that have been lifted directly from the games, so the codex will literally read itself to you.

If you want to increase your Galactic Readiness rating without slogging through multiplayer or downloading Mass Effect: Infiltrator, the Datapad has a treat for you: Galaxy at War: Fleet Commander.

You’re tasked with deploying fleets across the galaxy, and then waiting for them to return, before sending them out again to earn credits. As you pick up these bonus points, they can be used to improve and upgrade your ships, increase the odds of success, and speed up deployment times.

In addition to these two, there are some additional bits and pieces thrown into the Datapad as well: Wallpapers, trailers, a Twitter feed, and even email from characters you’ve met within Mass Effect 3.

The price is right (we did mention it’s free, right?), and early reports suggest that if you have both Mass Effect 3 and an iOS device, the Mass Effect 3 Datapad is a must-have. Go get ’em!
