Australia will host a FIFA Interactive World Cup Live Qualifying Event in 2012 – one of only 11 countries in the world to host a live tournament.
If you fancy yourself a bit of a football superstar, now’s your chance to show off your skills. For the first time, participants from all over the country are invited to take part: Pre-qualifying events will be held in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Newcastle, Gold Coast and Rockhampton from 6pm on Thursday March 22. The winner of each of the pre-qualifiers will be sent to Sydney on April 4th for the qualifying final to discover the best in Australia!
To pre-qualify, you’ll first need to register online, and make sure you can get to EB Games in the following locations:
- NSW – Westfield Miranda, Miranda
- NSW – Top Ryde City, Ryde
- NSW – Charlestown Square, Newcastle
- QLD – Robina Town Centre, Gold Coast
- QLD – Rockhampton Fair, Rockhampton
- SA – Rundle Mall, Adelaide
- VIC – Knox City, Melbourne
- WA – Cannington, Perth
(If you’re not familiar with the location of your closest EB Games, take a look at the official website.)
…but why do you want to do all of this? Because the winner of the Australian Qualifying event will be invited to the FIWC Grand Final later in the year – and if you win that one, you’ll take home $20,000 and a shiny FIWC trophy, awarded at the annual FIFA Players Gala, where you’ll rub shoulders with stars like David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Ricardo Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Fernando Torres, Lionel Messi and Tim Cahill.
If you do choose to take part, you’ll be in good company. Last year, nearly 900,000 gamers participated, and Australian Mark Azzi achieved a super-impressive third place at the 2011 Grand Final.
Places are limited though, so if you’re interested, you’d better register quick smart!
