Yes, Zenimax forced us to pull all Prey2 related talks from GDC. I’m pretty devastated by the news. This was to be my first conf talk.

Karis was set to discuss the game’s Rendering Technology. Colleague Kyle Hayward, technology programmer at the company, had signed up to speak on the Lightmap Baking Technology of Prey 2, while Ashley Welch – lead character/technical artist – held up the visual arts side of things with a scheduled presentation about the Alien Noir physically-based art.
Karis explains that he “sorry but I can’t answer some of the questions being asked about this,” adding that this is “not a good day” for him or the team.
Hayward is crossing his fingers that the situation can be resolved in time – but hasn’t shed any light on what that “situation” is.
We caught up with Human Head co-founder Chris Rhinehart at last year’s E3 to chat about the game – and what we saw at the time looked very impressive, if not publicly playable. However, that was in June, and we haven’t heard much about the game since then.
Player Attack continues to investigate – in the meantime, looks like you’ll have to re-plan your GDC sessions if you’d intended to sit down with the team from Prey 2.
