Mass Effect 3 is due out in a matter of weeks now, but it’s not the only way you’ll be able to get your intergalactic fix. EA has just revealed plans for an iOS expansion: Mass Effect 3 Infiltrator, described as a “companion app” for the console release.

Details for Infiltrator at this stage are fairly slim (we’ve contacted EA for further information), but we can tell you that it’s a “fully-featured” third-person shooter for iOS, featuring weaponry and powers direct from the Mass Effect series.
Inspired by the deep and immersive Mass Effect 3 universe, in Infiltrator players will help to free prisoners from a hostile Cerberus base and will receive rewards for collecting evidence of Cerberus’ crimes along the way. Every completed rescue and intelligence discovery in Infiltrator will increase a player’s Galactic Readiness rating directly through the Galaxy at War system in Mass Effect 3.
…what does all that means, with the “Galactic Readiness” and all? Basically: Spending a little time with Infiltrator on your phone or tablet will actually assist you in achieving the game’s “best” ending on your PC or console.
We’re hoping to have more information about Mass Effect 3 Infiltrator real soon, stay tuned.
