Kill Bill animator designs Sine Mora boss battles

We’re sure you don’t need any reason beyond “Grasshopper Manufacture“, dieselpunk and shoot-em-up to make you want to play Sine Mora, but we’ve got yet another killer detail to share: Boss battles designed by Mahiro Maeda.

Maeda-san is an esteemed Japanese anime creator, whose work includes art for Neon Genesis Evangelion as well as directing Blue Submarine No. 6, Final Fantasy: Unlimited and a segment of The Animatrix. Stepping slightly outside the traditional realm, he is best-known in the West for the work he did on Kill Bill Vol. 1 with Quentin Tarantino.

The game itself is in the works at Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality, heading to an Xbox LIVE Arcade release in the not-so-distant future.

Promising a “unique take” on the genre, gameplay is top priority but artwork takes a close second. Time is of the essence in Sine Mora, which combines classic shooter ideals with stunning next-gen presentation.

Oh, and it doesn’t only look amazing: It sounds great too, with Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka providing the soundtrack.

Whether you’re a hardcore shooter or a casual fan who likes to dip in occasionally, Sine Mora aims to please: More than 60 combinations of characters, planes and (wait for it) time-manipulation devices all add up to a pretty epic experience, complete with scaling difficulty.

No release date has been mentioned for this one just yet, but it should be out “soon”, and we’re hoping for plenty more pretty things in the lead-up to launch.
