Mass Effect 3 gets trailer, demo news, specs

Mass Effect 3 is already considered by many people to be the inevitable peak of 2012 – and it’s not even been released yet.

If you’re not yet one of the Shepard worshippers, then EA and BioWare have a plan to lure you into their trap.

First off, there’s the news that a playable demo for the game will be available on February 14th.

Then there’s a shiny new trailer to get you salivating, if you weren’t already.

Then there’s the system specs that you’ll need to match if you’re looking forward to playing ME3 on your PC.

Unfortunately, we haven’t quite figured out a way of rendering you unconscious until the game launches in March, hopefully the trailer keeps you going!

We knew there was a demo on the way, of course – it’s tied in with the suitably impressive Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning cross-over program. What we didn’t know was when it would arrive, and what it would contain.

Simple version: Feb 14th, and a whole lotta stuff.

The demo throws you straight into the all-out single-player galactic war with the Reapers, as well as a taste of the new co-op multiplayer mode and character customisation options.

…and yes, before you ask, the demo will be available on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Microsoft‘s console might be the way to go though, supporting full voice recognition functionality through Kinect (American, Australian and British English dialects, plus French, German and Italian).

Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series explains:

We are excited to be able to give gamers an expansive demo that will put them right on the front lines of this all-out galactic war. The entire scale of the game is bigger than anything we’ve ever done. With its intense action, deep customization and raw emotional power, Mass Effect 3 will deliver a spectacular action RPG experience to fans of the series and newcomers alike.

…and now, those system specs. You shouldn’t need to upgrade for this one, unless you’ve been looking for an excuse – in which case, go for it! That new video card can only make things look better!
