If you’ve ever dreamed of becoming a star, of enjoying the rags-to-riches rise to fame, sparkling in the limelight, being the life of the party – you’re not alone. The developers at EA know exactly how you feel, and while they can’t necessarily help you to these dazzling heights, they can certainly give your Sim a helping hand.
…and while it’s plenty exciting that you’ll be able to live out these fantasies – there’s more, including a bunch of innovative social features, connecting you to your friends in new ways.
Scott Evans, General Manager of The Sims Studio explains:
The Sims 3 Showtime is a huge step forward for The Sims franchise. For the first time, we are introducing social features that allow you to send your Sims to a friend’s game, perform at their venue in front of their Sims where you both will earn rewards, and capture and share these in-game moments of your rise to fame.
Yep – The Sims Showtime will see you connecting with friends, fans and fellow gamers all without leaving the keyboard. The shiny new SimPort feature, as Scott mentioned, will allow you to send your Sim into your friend’s game, booking gigs, touring and playing shows, and being reviewed on their performance.
There’s also a bunch of other added bits and pieces – rewards for achieving goals, special challenges and the ability to post successes (and failures!), wishlists and gifts through your in-game news feed, or via eCard for friends who may not have the game.

Starry-eyed options include DJs, magicians, acrobats and – of course – singers. You’ll be able to build and customise your own stage, using props and special effects to create something truly unique. And it’s not all about looks – how the stage is built can directly influence your Sim’s performance and career progression!
Scheduled for release in March 2012 exclusively for Mac and PC, The Sims 3 Showtime is currently available to pre-order at selected outlets – and if you put your name down right now, you’ll be upgraded to a special Limited Edition version, including the Ultimate Stage venue.
