Battlefield 3 sells bucketloads

Despite the game’s recent ban in Iran, it seems that Battlefield 3 is still selling in pretty significant numbers.

In a presentation earlier today at the Baird Technology Conference, EA CFO Eric Brown announced the game has sold more than 8 million copies to date – suggesting that a further 3 million had sold post-launch week in late October.

While we don’t know quite which platforms the game is performing best on, we do know that EA has shipped 12 million copies of the game – and that 10 of those were in the first week of sale.

None too shabby there, DICE!

The team in Sweden is currently putting the finishing touches on the Back to Karkand expansion pack, which we’ve learned will feature three of the most popular vehicles from BF2 as well as a nostalgic map or two.

You’ll be driving around in an APC, a desert buggy and a STOVL fighter jet – and a classified fourth vehicle we’re not allowed to talk about, but can show you in this latest trailer!

If you’ve got a copy of the Limited Edition of Battlefield 3, then Back to Karkand is yours for no extra charge – if you missed out on that one, it’ll set you back $23.95/1200 Microsoft Points. The pack’s due out – for all platforms – next month.
