Sony reveals PlayStation Vita launch lineup

So we know when the PlayStation Vita will arrive, we know what we’ll get for pre-ordering the handheld – and now we’ve found out which other games will be popping as launch titles for the platform.

PlayStation Vita: Uncharted

Surprise! Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a launch title, too

The list – one dozen shiny new games – is packed with a blend of both traditional franchises we’d come to expect, and those new titles Sony has been promoting.

Most of those are things we already knew, but Unit 13 and MotorStorm RC are new additions:

Unit 13 is a third-person military shooter from Zipper Interactive – your job is to “stop terrorists, dictators, gunrunners, warlords and drug traffickers” in levels primarily focussed in real-world troublespots like the Horn of Africa, South Asia and the Arabian Peninsula.

The game focusses on “portable play” – designed for adventuring on the go – and the mission structure is non-linear, so you won’t have to play this one from start to finish.

MotorStorm RC is in the works at Evolution Studios, and scales the PS3 launch franchise down to fit in your pocket. Rather than real vehicles, you’re racing remote controlled cars around a tiny track. There are 24 of them available initially, with more on the way in DLC (also planned to bring new tracks, huzzah!).

Even better than all of that, though: If you buy the PS3 version as well (Sony promises “both versions for one price”), you’ll be able to move seamlessly between the two. Fun times!

As mentioned, Sony is partnering with Vodafone in Australia, New Zealand and Europe for the 3G/Wi-Fi Playstation Vita, which provides an always-on internet experience.
