Aussies say G'day to Kinect Voice Controls

Despite living in “the future” according to time zones, Australia is lagging behind the rest of the world on a number of things. Starting tomorrow, however, we’re going to take a huge leap towards catching up in the gaming realm, as Microsoft has announced that – finally – Aussies will be getting access to the Voice Controls in Kinect.

Kinect's listening to you, now.

It’s been nearly a year since the Xbox 360 peripheral launched Down Under, and we’ve been waiting what feels like forever for the functionality to be unlocked.

That day has (almost) come, as Microsoft confirms Voice Control for some games (such as Forza 4) will kick in properly tomorrow.

The rest of the update, including entertainment controls – like telling your Xbox to search the internet – are still a little way off, scheduled to arrive in Australia in “mid-December”.

…and, technically, this all fits into Microsoft‘s promise that Australia would have Kinect Voice Control by “Spring 2011” – even if they are cutting it a little fine.
