Last year, visitors were given a Dethling statue – a mini-tribute to Deathwing, who was preparing to return to Azeroth as part of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. The year before that, a Marine statue to commemorate the impending launch of Starcraft II.
This year, looks like the attention’s shifted to Diablo III, with a “museum-quality maquette” of Tyrael – who may be quite imposing and even terrifying in-game, but is much more friendly-looking (and no less glorious) in statue form. He was designed by the Blizzard cinematics team, working with Sideshow Collectibles.
Each meticulously crafted Mini Tyrael piece comes complete with a stamped base and is ready for display on your archive shelves. This figure is a limited-edition, exclusive gift for BlizzCon 2011 attendees, created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Diablo series and the upcoming release of Diablo III, and it will never be reproduced for commercial sale.
So – the only way to get one of these is to actually attend this weekend’s BlizzCon festivities… or, perhaps, to spend a packet on an unauthorised online auction somewhere. *cough*
