Emergency crews have been called to a street in Toronto, Canada, to examine reports that a number of zombies had been injured. Twelve undead were taken to hospital, suffering from minor cuts and bruises, arm and back injuries, with one sustaining a broken leg.
Toronto emergency medical services Commander David Ralph was a little taken aback by the copious amounts of blood and gore that accompanied the relatively minor injuries:
I could see the look on the first paramedic, saying ‘Oh my God’.
A high platform on the set of Resident Evil: Retribution moved unexpectedly, injuring sixteen nearby actors. Real blood mixed with makeup and ambulance staff found their job complicated by the gruesome costumes worn by the zombies.
Fortunately, it didn’t take long for medics to sort out which were injured and which were in character, and despite their fall, seven of the injured zombies were back at work later in the day, walking with just a slightly more realistic shuffle.
The incident has been classified as an industrial accident, and Canada’s Ministry of Labour is investigating. Actress Milla Jovovich was allegedly not on set at the time.
