…and they’re not doing things by halves. The deal has been signed for 78 (seventy-eight!) seven-minute CG episodes to be made in-house at Ubisoft, who then carry the French broadcast rights. Rest-of-the-world is handled by Nickelodeon. To be honest, I’m then a little surprised that these will be smooshed together into 26 half-hour episodes, I’d love a bit of bite-sized Rabbids from time to time!
Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures explains:
Nickelodeon is one of the world’s leading entertainment brands for children and families, and Ubisoft is thrilled to be partnering with Nickelodeon to deliver unique television programming to its viewers.
As the world’s most recognized entertainment brand for children and families, Nickelodeon is the perfect vehicle to share the zany Rabbids characters and their crazy adventures with television audiences around the globe. This partnership represents a major milestone in Ubisoft’s strategy to expand its brands to new media, thereby attracting new audiences to its games.
Can you believe the Rabbids have only been around for five years? They debuted on the Wii back in 2006, and show no signs of slowing down. With Nickelodeon‘s international network to back ’em up, who knows where they can go!
