Dr. Ray Muzyka from Bioware explains:
This is an incredible moment for everyone at BioWare and our partners at LucasArts who have dedicated their lives to build this extraordinary game. We appreciate the patience from the millions of fans who have been waiting for the game’s release.
…and they’ve been waiting a fair while, too. Star Wars: The Old Republic was first announced all the way back in 2008, with gamers frothing at the mouth in anticipation virtually ever since.
In addition to revealing the Big Date, Bioware also confirmed the price structure for the subscription-only MMO. You’ll get one month ‘free’ when you buy the game, but after that you’re expected to fork out your hard earned earth dollars.
- 1 Month Subscription: $14.99 (£8.99/€12.99)
- 3 Month Subscription: $13.99 per month (one-time charge of $41.97/£25.17/€35.97)
- 6 Month Subscription: $12.99 per month (one-time charge of $77.94/£46.14/€65.94)
If you’ve already pre-ordered the game, entering your code on www.swtor.com will see you eligible for Early Game Access – and if you haven’t already, there’s still time.
In order to try and prevent a crippling day one rush, BioWare and Electronic Arts have limited the number of pre-orders available, while analysts are predicting more than three million copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic will be sold in the next 12 months.
