Valve announces Arsenal Mode for CS:GO

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is all set to receive some new game modes, says Valve. Today, the developer has revealed Arsenal Mode, which you may recognise as taking inspiration from the Counter-Strike: Source mod Gun Game.

Eight new maps will be added to CS:GO, to make best use of both Arsenal: Arms Race and Arsenal: Demolition – and all of them are designed to expand on the now-classic Counter-Strike gameplay model.

And in a particularly lovely move, the Gun Game creators aren’t being left out, either. They’re working closely with Valve, as project lead Michael Barr explains:

We are excited that Valve reached out and is working with us to ensure Arsenal Mode is the best version of Gun Game.

CS:GO is currently in development for PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and Steam for both PC and Mac, scheduled to arrive in early 2012. It’s a successor to the classic Counter-Strike as well as Counter-Strike: Source, and while it’s no Episode Three, we’re still quite pleased it’s getting attention from Valve.
