Hard Reset demo launched, grab it here

Hard Reset burst onto our radars in July, with the news that a Polish super-group developer Flying Wild Hog was working on a dark, dystopian sci-fi shooter. With staff members who have contributed to the successes of Painkiller, Bulletstorm and The Witcher 2, we were expecting big things – and it looks like they’ll be delivered even earlier than anticipated.

Today sees the release of a playable demo for the game, providing a chunk of the first level and about half an hour of gameplay. And there’s some good news for gamers who aren’t fond of DRM, too.

Hard Reset will be released via Steam on September 13th, which some would say provides its own special kind of copy protection. The guys at Flying Wild Hog seem to agree, with co-founder Klaudiusz Zych exclaiming to Ars Technica:

I’m a gamer as well as a developer, and I hate DRM. So no DRM!

The game will be sold for less than $29.99 when it’s launched, with Flying Wild Hog aiming for gamers who want a game that’s less-expensive than a full-blown AAA release, but something a little more complex than the $10 bargain-basement casuals. From what we’ve seen of Hard Reset, we think they’re on the right track.
