I have some good news and some bad news for you. Good news? We have a shiny new Minecraft trailer to show off the upcoming 1.8 update for the game.
Bad news? Even though it was scheduled to arrive in the next couple of days, Mojang reports that it’s not quite ready yet, so this is all you’re getting for now.
Jens Bergensten, better known as jeb_, broke the news on Twitter, claiming that he’s the only person working on the project at the moment:
Looks grim to get a release out on 8th. We need more testing, one day is not enough. And we never release on fridays… I’ll keep you posted
While some gamers are inevitably going to be disappointed by this, others are secretly pleased. The concept of “patch testing” hasn’t historically been familiar to Minecraft fans, so taking a little while longer to polish things up properly is just fine.
Regardless of when it arrives, the 1.8 update for Minecraft is known as the Adventure update, and it’ll introduce a bunch of new crafting recipes, new combat mechanics, a couple of new abilities and at least three new mobs. Stay tuned, it’ll be with you shortly.
In the meantime, want to go behind the scenes?
