Next to my computer is a bookshelf, piled high with gaming-related books. Some of them are non-fiction, lists, reviews and histories, but plenty of the others are novelisations, stories based in the game’s universe, prequels or sequels. One tome that would look awesome on my shelf (or yours, for that matter), is the shiny new Assassin’s Creed Encyclopedia, which Ubisoft is taking great delight in showing off.
256 pages long, this softcover edition covers the world that Ezio and Altair reside in, detailing the plot of the assorted games as well as giving you information on each major character. As a handy addition, the “real world” actual history of the era and the region is included too – and, of course – it’s packed with pretty pictures.
Spoiler alert, this one does delve into Assassin’s Creed Revelations, so you won’t want to read too far before you play.
The book’s been compiled by staff at Ubisoft, who built the world itself, but the team also brought in five fans from the Assassin’s Creed community to add their knowledge, expertise and passion for the game. Nice!
The Assassin’s Creed Encyclopedia will be thrown in as part of the Animus Edition of Assassin’s Creed Revelations in Europe, but North Americans will have to buy it separately, and it’ll set you back $34.95 once it’s released. If you want though, you can pre-order it directly from Ubisoft, for a mere $29.95.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 starting November 15th.
