Jetpack Joyride roars onto the App Store

I’ve seen reviews observing the new game from Fruit Ninja creator Halfbrick is “more addictive than crack”, and we think they just might be right.

Jetpack Joyride has blasted its way onto the App Store today, for a mere $0.99, and it’s already shaping up to follow in the footsteps of the company’s earlier blockbusters. Don’t know what we’re talking about? Here’s the official trailer:

Obviously, Barry Steakfries has made a triumphant return, breaking into a secret lab so that he can yoink those experimental jetpacks right from under the noses of the scientific bad-guys. The iPhone’s innovative touch-sensitive technology comes to the fore, as gamers tap to ascend and release to descend.

Collect coins, complete missions, earn cash, buy gear, improve your jetpack, pick out snazzy clothes and generally take the world by storm. Jetpack Joyride relies on speedy reflexes, as you navigate lasers, guided missiles and electricity fields, but rest assured Halfbrick has stashed away a whole bunch of collectible goodies that’ll help you (and Barry!) out.

Oh, and if you’d prefer the big-screen version, this universal app is quite happily playable on the iPad, too.

Jetpack Joyride is out right now from the makers of Fruit Ninja, Monster Dash and Age of Zombies, and – just like those three – it looks destined for big things. Get it while it’s hot!
