If you weren’t able to make it to Seattle, and missed out on your hands-on chance with the game, don’t fret. The semi-closed beta has just kicked off, expanding beyond Friends and Family to include members of the gaming public.
…also on show at PAX was this brand new trailer for the game, to give you an idea of what’s in store:
The official website promised that this would happen “after PAX Prime”, but didn’t offer a date – this week there’s a little confusion about whether it’s all started right now, or if it’s kicking off on Tuesday, August 31st. Either way, if you want in, now’s not a bad time to sign up.
Entry to the beta will be granted to a “random selection” of gamers who have signed up for the Firefall forums, to the website’s mailing list, or those who have handed over their email addresses just for this purpose (we hear there were several clipboards doing the rounds at PAX). Additionally, people jumping in on giveaways, contests or simply commenting on Firefall-related news posts will increase your chances of getting into the beta!
Once people start exploring the world of Firefall, they’re not expected to do it alone! Beta testers will be able to invite their friends as well, potentially using Google+ as an invitation process.
Then – finally – come December 31st, the whole game will be officially opened to everybody, regardless of invites, forum memberships or friend status.
Thanks to eagle-eyed gamer Illian.Amerond for the heads-up!
