2011 Best of Gamescom awards

Over in Germany, EA is a little pleased with itself, strutting around with its head held high. The company’s swept up four best-in-show awards from Gamescom, including the coveted “Best of Gamescom” title.

But just what were these esteemed, upcoming releases? You won’t really be surprised.

And then, of course, the big one: Best of gamescom 2011Battlefield 3
(…honestly, when you look as good as this Caspian Border video, is it any wonder?)

New EA COO Peter Moore is happy:

It’s gratifying in many ways to see our titles recognized with these awards, but perhaps most of all because we are so excited to be bringing each of these games to consumers in the coming months. We’ve known for some time that this would be a star-studded line-up for the second half of the calendar year, and these four titles showcase some of the best new experiences coming from EA, from console to PC to social.

Of course, it’s not all EA (though you’d be forgiven for thinking it was). Sony also picked up a couple of gongs:

And after all that, Blizzard takes home Best PC Game for Diablo III, while Double Fine and Warner Bros are all smiles after being awarded Best Family Game for Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster.

Tim Schafer sums it all up:

Hey, Once Upon a Monster just won “Best of Family Entertainment” at Gamescom! Woo! I’m totally going to buy it now.
