Even though Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is currently in development for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, it’s only the last of that trio that will be able to access the game’s week-long beta. Ubisoft has today revealed (heh) the Sony-exclusive, which kicks of September 3rd – more than two months before the game’s full, multiplatform release.

Three maps will be released – Knight’s Hospital, Antioch, Constantinople – with four play modes. Two of the modes (Wanted and Manhunt) we know from Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, but the others? Artifact Assault and Deathmatch. Draw your own conclusions.
You’ll be able to play as one of nine characters in Revelations – The Champion, The Trickster, The Bombardier, The Deacon, The Thespian, The Visier, The Guardian, The Vanguard or The Sentinel – but while you can customise ability sets (and there are eight abilities in the beta to choose from), most of the differences are simply cosmetic.
The official word from publisher Ubisoft explains that “PlayStation Plus and Uplay members” will have access to the Assassin’s Creed: Revelations beta – we’re not quite sure if that means you can get away with one or the other, or if you’ll need both. Either way, if you want to get some Ezio action a little earlier than the November release date, here’s your chance.
