Japanese gamers hoping to pick up a copy of Atelier Meruru, the latest role-playing game from Gust are going home empty handed, after the publisher halts shipments.
CERO, the local censorship authority received information that the game contains visual content “inappropriate” for the A rating it was given (suitable for gamers of all ages). Following an investigation, the board decided that this was the case – retracting the game’s rating. Allegedly, Gust did not include the relevant materials when submitting the game to the ratings process.
Now, Atelier Meruru is in limbo, waiting to be resubmitted and returned to shelves – and it’s not known when (or if!) Gust will take that path.
The previous two games in the series, Atelier Rorona and Atelier Totori are still available.
