…no, really, that’s its title.
The novel will be written by Mark Morris, a British Fantasy Award-winning author who’s also put pen to paper on the Doctor Who novel series. He’s a little bit pleased with his new project:
Having marvelled, like the rest of the world, at the stunning trailer earlier this year, I absolutely leaped at the opportunity to write the official Dead Island tie-in novel. This is a rich, exotic world of well-conceived characters, stunning locations and all-out zombie mayhem. What really attracted me to the project, however, was the fact that behind the nonstop action is a complex and multi-layered plot. I’m hugely excited and massively honoured to be a part of the Dead Island phenomenon.
The novel itself – set for simultaneous release with Dead Island (the game) in September – follows the lives of four individuals who’ve accidentally ended up on “the ultimate holiday from Hell”.
Royal Palms Resort is a five-star holiday destination – a once-in-a-lifetime dream vacation, a tropical paradise “unlike any other”. That description soon became horribly accurate, as a mysterious zombie outbreak hits the idyllic island of Banoi.
Four guests are apparently unaffected by the zombie apocalypse – and its their stories which are featured in the new book.
Welcome to the holiday paradise where your dreams should come true…
but where a nightmare is about to begin…
Dead Island is best known for that video – the most successful video game trailer of all time, with more than 10 million views and 6.2 million Twitter mentions in just four months. It’s also received mainstream recognition, picking up a Gold Lion award earlier this year in Cannes.
The game is due for worldwide release starting September 6th, for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
