While we’re getting quite excited about Firefall, the free-to-play MMO from Red 5, we still don’t know all that much about it. The game looks amazing, with a storyline set more than 200 years in the future, and an epic battle between humans and an alien race known as the Chosen.
But while it’s great to talk about your game’s story like it’s the Next Big Thing, sometimes you need a little grunt to back it up. Well, the June 2011 Dev Diary from Red 5 shows that Firefall comes with some pretty hefty grunt, with writing talent coming from one of the best science fiction authors of our times.
Yep, Orson Scott Card, author of the Ender’s Game series, has signed up to contribute his writing talents to the game. It’s not his first video gaming project, Card also worked on recent Xbox Live Arcade title Shadow Complex, but by the looks of things, Firefall will give him plenty of room to move and experiment.
Even if you claim your dance card is full and you couldn’t possibly consider another MMO – Firefall, with its team-based shooting action and this sort of writing pedigree, might just squeeze its way on there.
