Xbox reveals its Summer of Arcade, 2011

You might remember that the developers of Bastion were very pleased that the action-RPG would be featured in Microsoft‘s Summer of Arcade on Xbox Live.

Well, now we can confirm that the game is in fact the leading title for the promotion, kicking everything off on July 20th.

We’ve got the full list – all five games – plus information on the special bonus you’ll get if you pick ’em all up.

Toy Soldiers: Cold War blends intense first person combat with addictive action strategy, whether you’re scrapping solo or jumping into the fray with friends. Battle in campaign, competitive, co-op modes or fight for the highest score in mini-games!

…but wait, there’s more! When you pick up all five Summer of Arcade titles, the lovely folks at Xbox will throw in a free copy of Crimson Alliance (valued at 1200 MS Points) as a special treat.

Crimson Alliance

Explore the mystical world of the Crimson Empire in this action-RPG adventure. Chose to play as the powerful wizard, Direwolf; the battle-hardened mercenary, Gnox; or the mysterious assassin, Moonshade. Play Crimson Alliance co-operatively with up to 4 players on the same console or over Xbox LIVE. Work together combining your unique abilities against the nefarious Cult of the Soul Siren and the fearsome beasts they control. Can you stop them before their dark plans are complete?

Believe it or not, the course of free games never did run smooth, and gamers all over the place are getting a little upset that they’ll have to pick up a Kinect title in order to claim their freebie. Ignore the fact that it’s Fruit Ninja. Ignore the fact that it’s awesome. You can even ignore the simple mathematical fact that says you’ll save at least 400 MS Points, buying an 800 point game to receive a 1200 point title… but that’d just be silly. Gift horse, mouth. Don’t look.
