5 Interview: Raj Talluri (Qualcomm)

These days, so many of us rely so heavily on mobile phones, but don’t spare a thought for how the technology actually works. To put it simply, one company is responsible for pretty much all of the heavy lifting – and that company is Qualcomm.

Qualcomm didn’t have a specific presence at E3, preferring to lurk about behind the scenes, but we caught up with the company while checking out Sony Ericsson‘s new Xperia Play handset (the new home of Minecraft on mobile!).

Raj Talluri is Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm, and he was more than happy to tell us all about Snapdragon, the system on a chip that runs the Xperia Play – and to introduce Amira, lead character from Desert Winds, a game from Southend Interactive that’s been optimised for Snapdragon and Sony Ericsson‘s new handset.
