A release date has been announced for Jagged Alliance: Back in Action, the remake of 1999’s Jagged Alliance 2. From the looks of it, this will be quite a faithful remake. The player will be dropped in Arulco and join rebel forces in their battle against despotism. They will recruit a team of mercenaries, try to scavenge equipment, and plan their attack strategically and tactically.
One important change, other than the lush graphics, is the plan and go mode. A relief from the sometimes tedium common to the turn based tactics of the original, let’s hope the attempt to widen their appeal doesn’t create an unsatisfying Frankenstein’s monster. That was the result when X-Com: Apocalypse tried the exact same thing, back in the olden days.
Jagged Alliance: Back in Action will be available for PC from October 18.
