Going boldly where no gamer has gone before, Paramount Digital Interactive have today announced that the USS Enterprise is headed straight to the Xbox 360, PS3 and Windows PC, with an arrival date of summer 2012.
That’s right, Star Trek is in the works, promising an original story, an unprecedented co-op experience and (wait for it) …the opportunity to play as Kirk and Spock, for the first time ever.
The game is set just after the 2009 film of the same name, designed as a stand-alone story that sees Kirk and Spock forced to work together to stop an enemy race (but we won’t tell you which one).
Tom Lesinski, President of Paramount Digital Entertainment explains:
Star Trek challenges the boundaries of co-op gameplay with a galactic adventure that gamers and fans have never experienced.
Working closely with the Star Trek filmmaking team throughout development, the game is sure to deliver AAA production values, a wide variety of gameplay and all the action you would expect from the hit franchise. This will be the definitive Star Trek gaming experience.
And it’s not just a cheap tie-in, either. Marianne Krawczyk, BAFTA award winner and God of War writer is holding the pen on this one, working in collaboration with Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, the writer/producers of the new Star Trek films.
Currently in development at Digital Extremes (who are also working on The Darkness II), Star Trek will be on show at next week’s E3 expo, and playerattack will be there to check it all out, just for you.
