Feel that road rage building? Wouldn’t it be great if there was some sort of modern video game that would let you vent your feelings with some aggressive driving, white-knuckle racing and impressive crashing?
…well, the [surl=http://www.carmageddon.com/]Carmageddon[/surl] website has just been updated with a dark and broody countdown (complete with skulls), so we’re thinking that your opportunity might come sooner than we thought!
The site is counting down to June 1st, 2011, which is just before this year’s E3 kicks off. I wonder what they’ll be showing off?
The original Carmageddon was a PC game in 1997, and was incredibly successful. Players could out-drive opponents, crash cars, and run over pedestrians at a whim. Understandably, it was quite a controversial title when it was first launched – but the next two games in the franchise didn’t do anywhere near as well at release, failing to live up to the hype of the first.
Now though, the stage is set for a glorious, gory comeback with what may well be Carmageddon 4. The IP is now owned by Square Enix, who snapped up Eidos in 2009, and wouldn’t this look lovely nestled next to the shiny new Hitman: Absolution display at E3?
