If you want to get one last Gears of War 3 fix before the game’s officially released in September, time is running out.
The beta version of the game has been up for four weeks, and has seen countless gamers jump in, unlocking skins, awarding medals, performing excecutions and decimating enemies – but, alas, there’s just a few hours left.

Epic Games will be turning off the servers at 2am PDT on Monday May 16th, which – at time of writing – is just over six hours away. After that – no more multiplayer matches for you!
…there is a glimmer of hope, though. If you’ve become quite attached to your Gears 3 saves (or the unlocks you’ve – err – unlocked), you’ll be able to keep them. It’s a simple matter of deleting the Beta executable by itself, and not touching your saved games.
The [surl=http://epicgames.com/community/2011/05/gears-of-war-3-beta-ends-may-16-thanks-for-joining-us/]Epic Games Community Site[/surl] makes it look so easy:
To delete the Gears 3 Beta but leave your saves intact:
- Go to the System Settings menu on your Xbox 360
- Select “Memory”
- Select “Games”
- Select the Gears of War 3 Beta (507MB) and delete it.
The dev team would like to thank everybody for playing Gears of War 3 over the past little while – and they’re looking forward to seeing you again in September!
