Japanese vocaloid Hatsune Miku may have made her virtual Western debut recently with a puzzling advertisement for Toyota (wait, what?), but the cyan-haired singer is set to arrive on North American shores in a slightly more physical form in July.
Of course, it’s a little tricky for a computer-generated character to actually arrive, but lucky Californians can experience the next best thing – a “live” Hatsune Miku concert as part of [surl=http://www.anime-expo.org/]ANIME EXPO 2011[/surl] in the Los Angeles Convention Center.
The expo is held from July 1-4, and Miku will be appearing in the Nokia Theater on July 2nd, sponsored by (who else?) Toyota Motor Sales. She’ll be joined on stage by the Kagamine twins, Rin and Len, with the lovely Megurine Luka making an appearance as well.
Based on the “Miku’s Giving Day” event held in Tokyo on March 9th, the event promises “a few improvements” over the original. All 3D imaging will be created by SEGA, and supervised by Crypton Future Media, the creators of Hatsune Miku.
…this is great news, of course, but I can’t help but think that an English translation or release of Project DIVA wouldn’t be even better!
SEGA is currently working on Project DIVA 2.5 and Dreamy Theater 2nd, which we’re expecting in the next few months – and series spokesperson Nakanohito has [surl=http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2011/05/14/sega_secret_hatsune_miku_projects/]suggested[/surl] the company is also working on two secret projects, too. Fingers crossed at least one is for the West!
