They’ve written about Iron Men, they’ve written about Cowboys & Aliens, and now they’re going to write about Lara Croft. The new Tomb Raider film reboot will be penned by wordsmiths Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who also worked on Children of Men.
The film will include an all-new storyline for adventurer Lara, even though nobody’s quite sure who will play the role yet. The problem, according to experts, is that the “ideal” actress for the role is the girl who played her originally – Angelina Jolie.
Current bets are on Jennifer Lawrence, nominated for an Oscar for her role in Winter’s Bone and soon to play a young Mystique in X-Men: First Class. Time will tell – now that a great writing team is onboard along with a confirmed director, it should be much easier to move things forward. The film is expected some time in 2013.
